Wild Horses on Shackleford Banks
One of the most unforgettable sights along the Crystal Coast is the herd of wild horses roaming on Shackleford Banks. These Spanish mustangs have lived here for over 400 years, and Hook Line and Sandbar Charters knows the best spots to view them without disturbing their natural behavior.
Shackleford Banks is part of the Cape Lookout National Seashore, and it’s only accessible by boat. As we cruise along the shoreline, you'll often spot the horses grazing among the dunes or walking along the surf. It's a powerful and peaceful reminder of the untamed beauty of this coastline. This undeveloped barrier island offers pristine beaches, rolling dunes, and plenty of space to explore.

Shelling on Sand Dollar Island
One of the highlights of any trip is a visit to Sand Dollar Island, a secluded sandbar that appears at low tide just outside of Beaufort, NC. This unique spot is only accessible by boat, and it’s known for its rich variety of seashells—including, of course, sand dollars.
Bring your shell bags and wade into shallow waters to find perfect specimens in their natural environment. Our captain will time the trip with the tides to give you the best chance to collect shells during your scenic Eco boat tour.
