The Crystal Coast of North Carolina is a quaint, coastal community. with a small town feel. It extends for 85 miles, stretching from Cape Lookout National Seashore west toward the New River. Cape Lookout National Seashore has it own approximately 56 miles of protected coastline. It's a special place!
Thhe exact boundaries are often disputed. The Crystal Coast includes all the beaches in Carteret County, NC located on Bogue Banks.These South facing beaches include: Fort Macon, Atlantic Beach, Pine Knoll Shores, Salter Path, Indian Beach and Emerald Isle.
Attractions and Things To Do
There are so many things to do at the NC Crystal Coast in the SOBX. Some must see items are the NC Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores, Fort Macon State Park, Cape Lookout National Seashore, NC Maritime Museum and of course the beautiful beaches. Scenic Eco boat tours offer Dolphin Watch Adventure tours,Wild Horses on Shackleford Banks and Sunset Cruises. Onshore and Offshore fishing charters are available. Many people enjoy parasailaing, jet ski and kayak rentals or shopping on the waterfronts in Morehead City, Beaufort or Swansboro. There are plenty of historical attractions for histor buffs.
Annual Events
The Big Rock Blue Marlin Fishing Tournament started in 1957. It is one of the premier Billfish tournaments in the world. Morehead City is also the home of the NC Seafood Festival, held in October every year. The Christmas Floatilla in Morehad City and Beaufort NC are held the first weekend in December. The Christmas Floatilla is Swansboro, NC is held Thanksgiving weekend. Emerald Isle has a St. Patricks Day Festival in March. There are various craft fairs, festivals and fishing tournaments held throughout the year.
